*Blog Helpful Hints*

As we work throughout the week, we may encounter kinks we have not worked out yet. If you run into a problem, email me, or post a comment here, and I will do my best to address the issue.
Happy blogging!
Issue # 1: Enabling your blog to accept comments-
Click on Settings, then the Comments tab, then change "Comment Form Placement" to "Full Page." Click on "Save Settings" at the bottom of the page, and double check your Blog to make sure people can now add comments.

Assignment #1

First, you must create your blog. To start your blog, follow the slide share tutorial on how to create a blog on the right side of this page. Create your blog, and post a link to your blog as a comment here (Other grade). Make sure to include your first initial and last name, and your period number at the beginning of your comment.

The first comment to this post is an example of the comment you should post when you are done with Assignment #1.

Due Dates

The Dialectial Journal (15 entries) and Theme Chart (5 entries) will be due on Friday January 6, 2012.

Blog assignments 2 and 3 will be due by Friday, January 13, 2012. I will LOCK the comments section on Friday at 3 pm.

Happy blogging!

Introduction to the Winter Reading

Over the break, you will be reading one of the following books:
Frankenstein by Mary Shelley
Handmaid’s Tale by Margaret Atwood
The Brief and Wondrous Life of Oscar Wao by Junot Diaz
The Road by Cormac McCarthy
I will be posting three discussion topics to my blog. You will be expected to respond to one of the three topics on your own blog, and post comments to two other student’s blogs by Friday, January 13, 2012. You will receive an “other” grade for creating your blog, and posting the link to this Assignment #1 post.
You will receive two minor grades; one for your blog TEAR (Assignment #2), one for your comments on other people’s blogs (Assignment #3).
To complete this assignment, follow these steps.
1.     Go to my website: http://www.mrbrimmagesapenglishivclass.blogspot.com/ (you can also find the link on my Elsik AP English IV class page).
2.    You may want to become a follower of my blog to make movement between blogs easier for you.
3.    Look at my blog archives, and follow the directions to the assignments. There are three.
4.    You must complete the assignments in order. You cannot move on to Assignment #3 until you have completed your TEAR.
This project will also help to prepare you for your timed-writing assignment upon your return from Winter Break.

Welcome Students

In the next couple weeks, we will be reading a literary novel outside of class. I will be posting blog topics here, which will be open for discussions. You will be given homework assignments which will be posted here. The work submitted here should be edited, refined, and of literary value. You may email me if you have any questions.
